WestbourneV Ashling 21st June2009 Match drawn The recent revival of timed cricket once again did few favours for Ashling who posted a decent total, only to see the opposition make a token gesture at chasing the runs before settling for a draw. Highlights of the Ashling innings included Nic Loubser's fourth consecutive half century; his 67including three sixes and eight fours. Matt Sleep continued his recent run of good form with 56 not out. There was still time for a cameo from Matt Battans (25 not out,) who may only have one shot, but his spoon shot off his knees over square leg brought three sixes and a four! Bone and Riches bowled 33 overs between them for Westbourne, and one wonders what spreading the bowling around might have done to the total. An early run out and two wickets for Tom Ballingal had Westbourne on the back foot, but the arrival of Phil Dickin put paid to any thoughts of an Ashling victory. He stayed until the end by which time he has amassed 75 not out with Ashling trying seven bowlers without being able to make the decisive breakthrough
