Tangmere v Ashling 26th June 2011 Tangmere won by 9 wickets On the first all-shirtsleeves day of the season the wicket at Tangmere looked flat and hard. It was it bit of a surprise then when every other ball shot through at ankle height. Tangmere persisted with their slow-bowling attack which was difficult to get away and had us totally bogged down with only 32 on the board after 14 overs. Nic Loubser still hasn't got his form back after recovering from a near-death experience (tickly chest) and went for 8. Chris Cranna, playing his last match of the season before flying off to sort out the Chinese only made 1 and Dan Cooke soon followed. Johannes Wentzels played the Ashling innings of the day, who after a slow start entertained the crowd with some big hitting on his way to 51. Paul Colley offered some support with 20, but Ashling had left it too late to post a decent total and a succession of batsmen trooped out, swished, and then trooped back. 129 really wasn't enough. Smith will have enjoyed his afternoon as he took 6 for 17 for the home team. By the time Tangmere batted there appeared to be a different wicket in place. This one had a nice even bounce that the batsmen soon felt at home on. Nic Loubser removed blow for 24, but after that Bain and Charlesworth strolled home with ten overs to spare
