Ashling v Tangmere

27th June 2010

Ashling 152, Tangmere 142-5

Ashling won by 10 runs

This game started at 10:30 am to give the players a chance to see our brave English boys take on the cowering hun in the World Cup. Cricket, victory, beer, football, victory. A perfect day in prospect. Well Nic Loubser managed to get 0. THANKS FOR NOTHING NIC. I hope he hasn't got a computer and can read this. Soon we were 23 for 5, and even we couldn't fancy lager at 11am on a Sunday. Fortunately PC's ringer, Joe Shopland decided to stick around, eventually making 55. A welcome 45 from Johannes Wentzel and a late 20 from Craig Hillier before he sets off to join the Commandoes also helped. 152 looked like a good total on an unusually unpredictable wicket.

Blow played well for his 56, but just when Tangmere should have been looking to accelerate the wickets started falling. Danger man Justin Murray, having had his bowling spanked all over the field, now found himself out for a duck. Despite Parris' 42 not out, Tangmere couldn't up the run rate and finished up ten short. Nic Loubser took 2 wickets.

Then we went to the pub where the might of the German machine cast aside the bunch of pampered playboys and flopsy bunnies who disgraced the three lions. Bugger.
