Slindon v Ashling 6th September 2010 Ashling won by seven wickets Slindon won the toss and opted to bat on a damp but drying wicket.. Steve Harvey and Tom Ballingal kept the Slindon openers under control and the scoreboard was moving slowly. Tom made the breakthrough removing opener Banks for 10 thanks to a sharp catch from Fergus MacLehose. Slindon were eventually able to post a reasonable total of 168 for 9 without ever being able to punish any of the bowlers who chipped away at the batting order. Craig Hillier took two wickets by keeping the batsmen (and the Ashling players) guessing where the next ball would go. Foreign star Nic Loubser picked up three late wickets, while Irishman Dennis Biggins made his cricketing debut and fielded energetically. Chris Cranna continued his run of form with a sensibly compiled 35 while Nic rode his luck being dropped twice on his way to 36. The real fireworks started when Fergus MacLehose came to the crease and carried on where he left off against Singleton, amassing 92 not out which included seven sixes and nine fours. It is now 225 runs since anybody got him out, and Ashling passed the Slindon total with ten overs remaining with the unfortunate result that the team had to wait for the pub to open.
