Ashling v Purbrook 27th September
2009 Ashling finished the 2009 season with a crushing victory on an unexpectedly hot and sunny day. The star performers were the "colonial" imports Nic Loubser (101 not out) and Tom Sully 84. Purbrook tried eight different bowlers, but only Thomas and Harding returned decent figures, and the others were put to the sword. Matt Battans made a useful 17. Tom Sully took 3 for 12, Sam Evans and Henry Slatter took two each, but the strangest story was reserved for the very end of the season. Craig Hillier was given a rare opportunity to bowl, and took two wickets with the last two balls of his over, leaving him on a hat-trick for the first game of next season. |
