Ashling v Lavant 14th June 2006 Lavant 88 for 8 (Loubser 2-12) Ashling 92-3 (Loubser 47 not out) The outfield was even longer than on Sunday for this 20 over bash, so high scores were unlikely. Ashling won the toss and put Lavant in to bat. With Steve Harvey still unable to bowl, he donned the gloves to allow Colley to turn his arm over, and PC made the most of the opportunity, taking two wickets. None of Lavant's batsmen really got a grip on the bowling, with the best effort coming from Taylor who made 21 before being the first of two victims of Harry Quilter's arm. 88 looked a reasonable total on a low-scoring outfield. After Harry Quilter and Nash went early, Matt Sleep (29) and Nic Loubser (47 not out) built and then accelerated their innings, and steered Ashling into a winning position. Sleep fell with victory in sight, but Paul Colley held up one end while Nic Loubser hit the winning runs with an over to spare. |
