The weather was the eventual winner in this game with the gloom and the rain ending proceeding early. The game was in any case headed towards a dull draw as Droxford made no effort to chase Ashling's total of 162 for 9.

Chris Judd was by far Ashling's top performer with the bat, including four sixes and seven fours in his innings of 77. Nick Loubser weighed in with 24 not out after coming in at number 9. James Ford's 17 and Craig Mason's 16 were worthy contributions and only Ian King's golden duck blotted the copybook.

James Ford and Chris Judd opened the bowling, but had little luck and became increasingly frustrated by the Droxford batsmen showing no inclination to offer shots. Nick Loubser came on as first change and took quick wickets, at one stage boasting 3 for 4, but ending with figures of 8-2-22-3.
