Ashling v Boxgrove 9th May 2010 Boxgrove won by 114 runs It was great to finally get the season under way on a damp and chilly Sunday. It was clear that a scratch Ashling team were always likely to struggle against a strong Boxgrove side, although in the end one player made all of the difference; James Thorpe's 108 allowed Boxgrove to post a large total. The ashling bowlers toiled away with Tom Balingal, Leigh O'Brien, Steve Harvey, Henry Slatter and Craig Hillier taking a wicket apiece, but Thorpe survived until near the end of the innings. Chris Cranna dug in early on, but Ashling collapsed to 2 for 3 around him. Tom Balingal and Paul Colley both scored 23 to restore a little pride, but once they were out wickets tumbled quickly and the end could not be postponed for long
